Hello students and parents!
Here is an update from room 214:
5th Grade Reading: This is week 2 in our mystery unit. Last week, we read the story Missing Links. Tomorrow, we are beginning a new story. Students will be expected to keep a detective journal and daily notes. A few reading skills that we are working on include: drawing conclusions and making inferences.
5th Grade Math: Fifteen students are now spending part of their math time in my classroom. These students will be working with my throughout Unit 5. We are working on fractions currently. The students have homework almost every day, so expect to see them working on their math at home! Today, we continued to work with: improper fractions and mixed numbers.
3rd Grade Writing: Great work students finishing up your lyrics! Can you tell your parents how lyrics and poems are similar? Today, we took a quiz on poetry and lyrics. Tomorrow, we will continue our pre-writing activities for the fantasy stories we will be writing. This will be a little longer project for the students, so expect to see some writing work at home. Ask your student what fiction and fantasy stories are!
3rd Grade Math: This week we are finishing up Unit 5. All of our math practice boxes are due tomorrow! We will be going over them and reviewing for our test on Friday in the next few days. Keep up the good work with fractions, decimals, and place value!
The 5th and 6th graders did a great job in their band concert today! It was great to see you all play!
Have a great week!
Ms. Mulvahill
